There was plenty of frustration for Arsenal following the 2-0 loss against Leicester City, with various reasons being given for the defeat.

These included an over-reliance on David Luiz when playing out from the back, Unai Emery’s tactics and the timing of substitutions, as portrayed on The Athletic’s discussion board.

However, Kelechi Anyikude took a different approach on AFTV, citing the sale of Alex Iwobi in the summer as a reason for their struggles on the night:

The 23-year-old academy graduate was sold to Everton in the summer, with the sum paid potentially rising to £34m, though the general consensus seems to be that the Gunners should have kept him.

The north Londoners went out and spent £72m on Nicolas Pepe, but these fans believe Iwobi could have had a greater impact against the Foxes –  one fan referring to Pepe as the “modern-day Gervinho”, while it was stated that the Nigerian’s creativity has been missed.

Since making the move to Goodison Park, Iwobi has made 9 starts and 4 substitute appearances, getting 2 goals, while averaging 1 key pass and 1.6 dribbles per Premier League game.
